The Summer Infant Complete Coverage Video Monitoring System includes both a large LCD screen monitor and a handheld monitor, so that you get the best of both worlds in the single package.
Summer Infant Complete Coverage Video Monitoring System ReviewThe PackageOk, so the huge benefit of this package is that you no longer have to choose between a totally portable handheld system or a fixed system, it includes both types of monitor unit for your complete freedom and complete suitability for your needs. The package includes the camera of course, a large 7” LCD screen monitor and a portable handheld 1.8” color video monitor.
CameraThe camera is fairly standard as baby video monitors go these days and there isn’t anything uniquely different or functionally different than the Summer Infant norm. The camera does, however, stream very good color video.
Handheld MonitorThe Summer Infant Complete Coverage Color Video Monitor handheld unit has a 1.8” screen that is ideal for complete portability, well up to the clear line sight of 350 feet that is. The range that you get is very good indeed and most people find that it provides greater range with less interference than many other handheld monitors, both in the Summer Infant range and also from other manufacturers. The entire system works on the 900MHz frequency (the same as the Summer Infant Day and Night Handheld Color Video Monitor), which means that many other common household devices that work in the common 2.4GHz band don’t interfere with reception signals. That’s not to say that you will not get some type of interference now and again, such as static, but compared to other models and brands, there really is very little. If this does happen, the handheld unit has a two channel selector switch so that you can alternate from one interfered signal channel to a non-interfered one. The handheld unit comes with the usual belt clip for easy carry, but also comes with a less commonly found pop out stand to stand it handily on a surface area of any kind. The unit has multi colored LED lights on the front to allow you to be alerted to abnormal higher levels of sound and of course you can also see your baby on the color screen. The unit can run with an AC pack or with rechargeable batteries. Unlike most handheld units, this one has a great additional feature of being able to connected straight into your TV set. You can choose to have video and sound, or just video or just sound.
LCD ScreenAs we have already said, the smart looking LCD screen that is included in the Summer Infant Complete Coverage Video Monitoring System is 7” big. That’s all you would really need for a video monitor size and certainly comparable in size to many more expensive models. The clarity once again is very good and the button controls at the bottom of the screen are very easy to use and make adjustments with. This particular screen can, as with most, be used with the stand to be kept on a table top, but also it comes with an under cabinet mounting for attaching, for example to your kitchen wall cabinets for easy and practical viewing, particularly in the daytime when your baby may be having a nap and you need to get on with your kitchen chores! The screen has a swivel stand and also incorporates the ability to be tilted for optimal viewing angle.
Multiple CamerasYou should be aware, that although this model does include a dual channel capability, this function is only designed for signal interference improvement. It cannot be used to accommodate an additional camera. Buyers that are looking for, or presuming that this model gives you the ability to add an additional camera at a later date should be aware that this model cannot use more than one camera. If you do need a dual or more capable baby video system, then take a look at our full Summer Infant Video Monitor selection and select from the appropriate choices.
ConclusionThe inability to incorporate additional cameras was a bit disappointing, but then again most parents do not need this ability, so in reality it is not a practical issue for most. Ignoring this fact, then the Summer Infant Complete Coverage Color Video Monitor system is a sound choice in terms of features, reliability and the HUGE fact that it includes two types of monitor in the one package. |
